This month the Advanced Telerobotics Research laboratory traveled to Tokyo, Japan to demonstrated the first iteration of their humanoid telepresence robot, Telebot2, at the World Robot Summit.
This iteration of the robot was designed to tackle Plant Disaster and Prevention tasks similar to those required during the unfortunate Fukushima disaster event. The team of 20 researchers was led by Dr. Jong-Hoon Kim and Irvin Cardenas. The team competed in the summit’s disaster response challenge and will move on to the second round of the competition taking place in Fukushima, Japan in 2020. More news on TBot2 will follow.

Telebot2 is the second generation of Telebot (YouTube Video), developed in 2012 at Florida International University.
